Biography Luke Vassella - Bio

Luke has been a full-time musician for 13 years. He is well known on the NSW North Coast and beyond as a warm, personable, professional and inspirational performer. He has played over 1500 gigs in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Sweden & Finland. His original music now fills six albums, all released independantly. He has four Dolphin Awards to his name, and recently made the shortlist as a finalist in the Vanda & Young Song Competition out of over 3200 entries. His album 'The Big Tin Shed' was recorded with fellow local music identity John Gift, and was nominated for two Dolphin Awards. His latest album 'All Those Paper Planes Part 1&2', is a two disc collection of 10 originals and 10 covers. Recorded in his 'Space Cave' studio, its a unique blend of smooth acoustic folk-rock, with an appealing country flavour.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

His career highlights have been many and varied and include:

  • Playing support to Savage Garden (1998), Wendy Mathews (1998), Troy Cassar Daley (2001), Alex Lloyd(2002), The Beautiful Girls(2006)
  • Releasing six original CD's,
  • Winning the 2003 Maitland Music Awards with his song "We got something", Winning four NCEIA awards including Best Male Vocal
  • Playing at many great Australian venues, memorable weddings, parties and other functions.
  • Making two successful trips performing in Europe; Copenhagen - 'The Old English Pub,' Stockholm - 'M/S Mariella', Austrian Alps - 'Bunny's Pub', London - 'The Spice of Life'(Shaftesbury Ave)

As a solo performer, Luke creates a unique atmosphere; using a blend of guitar, harmonica, stomp box and voice.
